New Burger King Spot – Good or bad?

by Ryan Shell on April 7, 2009

As I was watching TV last night I saw the new Burger King commercial, which was humorous at first. They did a little remix of the “Baby got Back” song and turned it into “Baby got Box” or something like that. As the commercial played I saw the humor, but when I realized they were promoting a new SpongeBob Square Pants kids meal… I was a bit shocked. Maybe the shock came because my brain was processing that the spot was about their new kids’ meal at the same time one of the final lines was rattled off, “Booty is booty.”

I’ve really tried to think about this objectively, but at the end of the day, this is a really bad spot. But then again, I’m writing about Burger King and finding myself getting hungrier by the word.

I think it’s hillarious…especially considering that a few years ago that was my kids’ favorite song to sing..and they knew most of the words. I don’t think they completely understood all the inuendo anyway.

As for the ‘booty is booty’ line…I think they’re trying to make a funny pirate pun in this case.
