LinkedIn: Does size Matter to You?

by Ryan Shell on July 27, 2010

Yesterday I highlighted a fundamental problem with LinkedIn and the post seemed to be well received… and it even got a little discussion started on LinkedIn itself. That’s productive.

Late last night I received the following message on LinkedIn and I thought it was worth sharing with you.

“I really appreciate your sentiments and the way you expressed them. I have experienced what you described for years. Especially in appraiser forum circles – it’s as you described, and gets worse. It’s really, as in business and the world, dominate, or be dominated, and I don’t mean we need to be pushy – but your posting goes a long way to correcting the situation.”

After I read the message I thought to myself, “there has to be a massive number of people that feel this way.” In no way is this meant to be a dig at LinkedIn, the company. It’s more of an effort to create awareness around the importance of having groups properly managed and for conversation to be the focal point.

Sure, size matters for some things, but when it comes to LinkedIn groups I’m going for quality.
